Mitratech Legal for Claude

Mitratech Legal connects Claude to TeamConnect through ARIES. Ask Claude about your matters, invoices, approvals and other TeamConnect records, and have it make changes for you once you approve them.

What it does

With Mitratech Legal, Claude can work in your TeamConnect instance as you. For example, it can:

  • find and summarize matters, contacts and other records;
  • review invoices and their line items, and look up timekeeper rates and hours;
  • list approval requests waiting on you;
  • prepare a new matter, create records and update fields.

You sign in with your own TeamConnect account, so Claude sees and changes only what your TeamConnect permissions allow.

Before you start

  • TeamConnect with the ARIES module. Your organization's TeamConnect needs the ARIES module installed.
  • An MCP server in ARIES. An ARIES administrator sets up a TeamConnect MCP server and turns on hosting in ARIES admin. If you aren't an administrator, ask yours for the server ID.
  • A TeamConnect account that can sign in to that instance and has access to the AriesConnect tool. Your TeamConnect administrator grants this, usually to everyone who uses ARIES. The tool is hidden, so you won't see it in a menu.
  • Claude on a plan that can use connectors. On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner adds or allows the connector for your organization first.

Find your ARIES server ID

An ARIES administrator does this once for your organization.

  1. In ARIES admin, open Team Connect, then the MCP hosting tab.
  2. Select your TeamConnect MCP server and check that it shows Hosting enabled.
  3. Under Also available at, find the URL that starts with https://api.aries.ai/. It looks like this:
    https://api.aries.ai/api/v1/mcp/servers/3f2b9c1e-8a4d-4c6b-9e2f-7d5a1b0c4e8f
Your server ID is the last part, after /servers/.

The Hosted MCP URL field above it may show a different host. Don't use that URL. The server ID at the end is the same in both fields, so you can copy the ID from either one, but whenever a full URL is needed, always use the https://api.aries.ai/api/v1/mcp/servers/ form.

Use the server ID exactly as shown, in lowercase. Don't add spaces, a trailing slash or anything else. An ID in capitals or with extra characters won't connect.

Connect in Claude

From the connectors directory

  1. In Claude, open the connectors directory and find Mitratech Legal. On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner adds it for your organization first.
  2. Choose Connect. When Claude asks for the ARIES server ID, enter yours. Depending on your plan, the Owner may enter it when adding the connector.
  3. Sign in with your own TeamConnect account. Claude then shows Mitratech Legal as connected.

As a custom connector

  1. In Claude, go to Settings > Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it Mitratech Legal and paste the full https://api.aries.ai/ URL from Also available at, for example https://api.aries.ai/api/v1/mcp/servers/3f2b9c1e-8a4d-4c6b-9e2f-7d5a1b0c4e8f. If you only have the ID, add it to the end of https://api.aries.ai/api/v1/mcp/servers/.
  3. Choose Connect and sign in with your own TeamConnect account.

To check the connection, ask Claude: “Am I signed in to TeamConnect?” If your sign-in expires, Claude asks you to sign in again.

Example prompts

Once you're connected, try asking Claude:

  • “Show my open matters.”
  • “Which approval requests are waiting on me?”
  • “Summarize invoice INV-1042 and flag anything unusual.”
  • “Find the contact record for Jordan Lee.”
  • “Update the description of matter Acme v. Northwind to ‘Settlement talks scheduled for March’.” Claude asks before making the change.

Use your own invoice numbers, names and matters. Claude sees only what your TeamConnect account can see.

Tools: reading and changing data

Most tools only read data. A few create or change records. Before Claude runs a tool that creates, changes or deletes data, it asks for your approval, unless you’ve chosen to always allow that tool. Your ARIES administrator can also limit which tools the server offers.

Read only

These tools look up data and never change it.

  • List object types
  • List project types
  • List records
  • Get record
  • Get record categories
  • Get custom fields
  • Get custom field definitions
  • Get category definition
  • Search records
  • Search custom field
  • Find contact identity
  • Scan records
  • Get record details
  • List search views
  • Get search view
  • List lookup tables
  • Get lookup items
  • List approval requests
  • Get approval request
  • Get document content

  • Get invoice line items
  • Get timekeeper rates
  • Get timekeeper daily hours
  • Get invoice review details
  • Check TeamConnect sign-in
  • List rules
  • Get rule
  • Get project field catalog

If your administrator turns on SQL access, these read-only tools also appear. They run read-only queries over the ARIES reporting views your account can see:

  • Run SQL query
  • List SQL views
  • Describe SQL view
  • Search SQL fields

Add data

These tools create new records but don't change existing ones. Claude asks before running them.

  • Create record
  • Add involved party to matter

Change or delete data

These tools change or remove existing records. Claude asks before running them.

  • Update record
  • Update record category
  • Change project phase
  • Delete record

Troubleshooting

Claude can't connect, or can't reach the server
Check the server ID. It must be exactly the ID from ARIES admin, in lowercase, with no spaces, trailing slash or other characters. Also ask your ARIES administrator to check that the server shows Hosting enabled. When hosting is off, ARIES answers “MCP hosting is not enabled”.
Sign-in fails or access is denied
Make sure your TeamConnect account can sign in to that TeamConnect instance directly. If you see “You do not have permission to connect applications to TeamConnect”, ask your TeamConnect administrator to give your account access to the AriesConnect tool.
Claude asks you to sign in again
Your TeamConnect sign-in has expired or was revoked. Sign in again with your TeamConnect account when Claude asks. If that doesn’t work, go to Settings > Connectors, disconnect Mitratech Legal and connect it again.
A tool you expect is missing
Your ARIES administrator may have limited which tools the server offers, or SQL access may be turned off. The tool list shows everything the server can offer.
Mitratech Legal isn't offered to you
On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner has to add or allow Mitratech Legal for your organization before members can connect. Ask your Claude Owner.
“TeamConnect tool execution failed”
Try again, or reconnect. If it keeps happening, ask your ARIES administrator to run Test MCP authentication on the MCP hosting tab, or contact support.

Data and privacy

  • What ARIES receives. For each tool call, ARIES receives the tool name and the inputs Claude sends, and returns the TeamConnect data for that call. It doesn't receive the rest of your conversation.
  • Sign-in. ARIES saves your TeamConnect sign-in so it can call TeamConnect as you. The access tokens Claude gets from ARIES last one hour. Refresh tokens last up to 30 days, work only once, and stop working if your TeamConnect sign-in expires.
  • Security. All traffic uses HTTPS. Saved sign-ins and tokens are stored encrypted at rest.
  • Permissions. Every call runs as your TeamConnect user, so TeamConnect's own permissions apply.
